This is what investigation feels like without Integrity.

Avendar, based in Den Bosch, builds Integrity: software that lets government investigators quickly see what doesn't add up in an application. For three months we were the extra hands, until their own team was up to strength.

What Avendar builds

The needle in a haystack

Anyone applying for a permit hands in a stack of documents: register extracts, annual accounts, bank statements, contracts. Government investigators have to find what doesn't add up in all of that. It's a massive job in which a detail is easily missed, while a detail like that can really make the difference.

Avendar, an AI start-up from Den Bosch, builds Integrity for exactly that. The software lays the documents side by side, checks them and shows where an investigator should take a closer look. What used to happen on a corkboard with pins and red thread is now laid out clearly on a single screen.

Precisely because the data is sensitive, we never worked with production data and had no access to the production environment. That is fairly unique for us, and exactly what made it a great challenge: building software you never see running on real cases yourself.

Integrity points things out. The investigator decides.

  1. 01Integrity reads every document in the application.
  2. 02Compares the application form with the attachments.
  3. 03Checks details in public registers, such as the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
  4. 04Flags documents that appear to have been edited.
  5. 05Maps out who is connected to whom.
Tijs Bronnenberg

“It's remarkable how quickly these guys made our product their own. If I dropped by in the morning with an idea for a prospect, I'd have a working demo a few days later. Not mock-ups, but software that actually works. They really thought along about what a client like that wants to see, independently and proactively.”

From first contact to final working day

How quickly it moved

We often want to start "yesterday", but that rarely works out in practice. With Avendar we came really close. 24 hours after first contact we already had an agreement and the onboarding scheduled. It clicked straight away, which made it not only productive but also a lot of fun.

A flexible extension

Part of the team for a while. Now they can carry on themselves.

Sometimes we build an entire product. Sometimes we are a temporary bridge.

Avendar has huge ambitions and now a team to make them happen. We'll keep following them and are ready to jump back on the moving train whenever they need us.

“Within a few days Popup Plus was a fully fledged part of our product team. They also made our tooling more mature, with an Avendar CLI of our own that makes it easier to work on several features in parallel. When our own team was up to strength, they handed everything over neatly.

Working together was a real pleasure and a huge boost for our product and our team.”
